The EFA (Electronic Focusing Accessory) control box can be mounted to the back plate of any PlaneWave telescope OTA (12.5 through 24 inches). The EFA Kit reads the primary mirror and ambient temperature sensors. The EFA controls the fan systems that are built into each telescope.

A Hand Controller is provided to control an optional Focuser or Rotator when standing at the eyepiece. The EFA kit comes with PlaneWave Interface (PWI4), a software package that controls all EFA functions from a PC. Cables and adapters are provided to attach the EFA kit to a PC. The EFA kit is ASCOM compatible.

Shipping and crating

The CDK14 ships in a custom wooden crate. Crating fees are charged separately from the telescope price — contact Deep Space Products for a complete shipping quote. The crated telescope weighs approximately 225 lbs and measures 31" × 26" × 53". Freight delivery with lift gate service is typically required.

Dovetail configuration

The CDK14 includes a Losmandy D-style dovetail plate. Let us know which mount you'll be using so we can confirm compatibility or recommend the appropriate dovetail configuration for your setup.

Camera and adapter selection

PlaneWave provides adapter charts for popular camera systems including ZWO, QHY, FLI, SBIG, and Apogee. The 282mm of back focus accommodates most imaging trains including filter wheels, off-axis guiders, and rotators. Contact Deep Space Products for help configuring the correct adapter stack for your specific camera and accessories.

Warranty

PlaneWave Instruments warrants CDK telescopes against defects in materials and workmanship for one year on optical coatings and two years on mechanics and electronics from the date of delivery.

The CDK14 is an excellent candidate for remote hosting at DSP Remote, our Bortle 1 dark-sky facility in southwest New Mexico.
