What mounts is the 10Micron 5" Dovetail Clamping Plate compatible with?
The 5" clamping plate (10M-4550-A) is designed for use with the 10Micron GM3000 HPS and GM4000 HPS series mounts. It is not compatible with the GM1000 or GM2000 without significant adapter work. If you're unsure which clamping plate fits your specific mount version, Deep Space Products can confirm compatibility before you order.
Does this plate require any adapter to mount on a GM3000 or GM4000?
Yes — 10Micron recommends pairing this plate with the dedicated flange adapter to ensure the locking knobs have enough clearance to operate properly. Use #10M-3545 for GM3000 mounts and #10M-4545 for GM4000 mounts. Both adapters are available separately from Deep Space Products.
What dovetail slide bar does this plate accept?
The 5" clamping plate is designed exclusively for the 10Micron 5" dovetail slide bar (#10M-4560), a 500mm black anodized aluminum bar. This is a proprietary 5" format — standard Losmandy (3") or 4" "Maxi" bars will not fit. If you need flexibility between bar lengths or formats, Deep Space Products can help you identify the right system for your optical tube.
Why would I choose the 5" plate over the 4" "Maxi" clamping plate?
The wider 5" clamping width provides more contact area and greater rigidity, which becomes meaningful when mounting large, heavy OTAs — 14"+ Cassegrains, large Newtonians, or dual-scope configurations — on a GM3000 or GM4000 mount. The 4" Maxi plate is well-suited for most configurations, but for payloads pushing the mount's upper capacity range, the 5" plate offers added stability and reduced flex during slewing and tracking.
