10Micron AZ2000HPS Alt-Azimuth Combi Mount
Price as Configured: $17,765.00
The 10Micron AZ2000HPS Combi is a professional-grade alt-azimuth research mount built on the proven mechanics of the GM2000HPS — carrying up to 110 lbs (50 kg) of instrument payload with the same sub-arcsecond pointing and tracking precision that defines the 10Micron HPS series. Optimized for satellite tracking, photometric and astrometric survey work, LiDAR applications, and multi-scope observatory configurations, the AZ2000HPS Combi brings observatory-grade flexibility to alt-azimuth astronomy.
Deep Space Products is the exclusive certified 10Micron service and support provider in the United States. All service, firmware updates, and repairs for AZ2000HPS mounts are handled domestically. A DSP Remote hosting discount is available — ask us about installing your AZ2000HPS under Bortle 1 skies in New Mexico. Sales are limited to North and South America.
Please note that, unless you are ordering a complete package, you must choose a saddle to go with the mount. The mount, by itself, does not include a saddle.

What is the AZ2000HPS Combi best used for?
The AZ2000HPS Combi excels in applications that benefit from an alt-azimuth configuration: satellite tracking, photometric and astrometric survey programs, LiDAR laser applications, planetary and solar system imaging, wide-field visual astronomy, and short-exposure survey astrophotography. It is also popular with professional and institutional observatories running multi-telescope programs. For long-exposure deep-sky astrophotography, a field de-rotator is required — Deep Space Products can recommend compatible options.
Can the AZ2000HPS Combi be used for deep-sky astrophotography?
Yes, with a field de-rotator. Because of the altazimuth design, the field of view rotates over time without compensation — exposures beyond a minute or two will show trailing without a de-rotator. With a quality ASCOM-compatible field de-rotator, the AZ2000HPS Combi delivers full 10Micron precision for long-exposure imaging. For users focused primarily on deep-sky astrophotography, the equatorial GM2000HPS II Combi is the more direct choice. Contact Deep Space Products to discuss which configuration best matches your program.
What is the payload capacity, and do I need to precisely counterbalance the telescope?
The AZ2000HPS Combi carries up to 50 kg (110 lbs) in the standard single-telescope configuration. With the optional dual-telescope kit, the capacity expands to 50 kg + 35 kg (110 + 77 lbs). Unlike equatorial mounts, precise counterbalancing is not required — using counterweights at approximately 50% of your telescope payload provides a sufficiently stable configuration. The 40 mm stainless steel counterweight shaft accepts standard counterweights from the GM2000 accessory range.
What is the "Combi" design, and what makes it different from the standard AZ2000HPS?
The AZ2000HPS Combi features a split-body construction that separates into two parts for transport and field use. For permanent installations, an additional locking system secures the body halves together for long-term mechanical stability. This makes the Combi version appropriate for both portable field deployment and fixed observatory use — earlier AZ2000 models did not offer this dual-mode flexibility.
Does the mount require a PC to operate?
No. The V3 control box is a standalone Linux-based system. The included heated keypad provides access to all functions — alignment, slewing, go-to, tracking, and model building — without an external computer. PC connection via Ethernet, RS-232, or Wi-Fi adds ASCOM driver compatibility and web interface access, but is not required for basic operation.
Is a low-temperature version available?
Yes. The AZ2000HPS Combi ColdTemp version (10M-2000AZCF) extends operational range to −30°C (−22°F). For environments beyond that, contact Deep Space Products to discuss options. The original AZ2000 was produced in an Antarctica-rated configuration for operation at −84°C (−119°F).
Where is 10Micron service handled in the United States?
Deep Space Products is the only certified 10Micron service and support provider in the United States. Firmware updates, diagnostics, and repairs are handled domestically — no shipping to Italy required.
